Information and facts

ANDETAG is a series of artworks and an art exhibition created by the artist duo Malin and Gustaf Tadaa.

This text is free to use. Press images, video and music are on the press page.

The artworks

At the core of the exhibition are 50 unique artworks, all interconnected over the internet. They visualize a deep human breath. The breath was recorded using a face mask that measures airflow, and is Malin Tadaa's breathing during meditation. The data from her breath was then used as the foundation for programming the artworks.

The artworks are made from custom-woven and hand-stitched optical fibre textile, which the artists design and weave themselves. Through the optical fibre, the textile gains the ability to glow from within. The fibres are lit by hundreds of LEDs and programmed using a generative algorithm based on her breath.

The artworks are also connected to the solar system, and track the positions of the five planets closest to Earth. Whenever a planetary conjunction occurs, that is, when two planets cross each other's paths, all the artworks change colour at the same moment.

Through the light animations, the works come to life and take on a breath of their own. Visitors can then follow that rhythm with their own breathing.

The works stand scattered across the world, from Seattle and New York to Lisbon and Berlin. See where they hang on the map.

The room at Hötorget

At Hötorget, the artist duo also shows an immersive part of ANDETAG: a whole room that takes the visitor on an inner journey.

ANDETAG is a place for reflection and contemplation, where visitors can explore the relationship between breath, art, and technology in an urban setting. The exhibition sets out to offer a break from the pace of everyday life, and a moment of stillness in the middle of Stockholm's busy centre.

Previously shown

Parts of the ANDETAG series have previously been shown at Art Miami 2023, at the Swedish Institute in Paris in autumn 2024, and at Galleri Soft in Oslo in autumn 2024.
